This story of love lost,
love found flowed very
nicely. I liked that there
was backstory tucked into
their daily lives so you
find out what has happened
without it being too much at
once. I enjoyed meeting some
of the secondary characters
that are from other Wayback
stories. This story was very
nicely written and I enjoyed
every minute of it. My only
complaint, as with some
other stories this length,
is that I wanted it to gone
on longer than it did.
Full of tenderness, "Return
of the Prodigal Daughter" is
another great foray into
Wayback. Right from the
start, it seems everybody’s
family – or acquaintances –
get into and help gum up the
works (ain’t that just the
small-town truth?) The
brother, the grannie, the
dear old aunt Gracie will
all get their two cents into
this one. Heck, even
reporter Cassie from the
local newspaper gets into
the act. An evening at the
famed Blue Bug Saloon will
only feed the gossips. Will
Sherrie contemplate a cheap
fling – or is she ready for
something more? Sherrie
shows her own quality in her
kindness to others; she
understands a young lady’s
interest in winning rodeo
queen, for example. How does
she not understand Jake’s
protective support of her,
since her arrival in back in
town?
This is a fast paced Wayback,
with snappy dialogue,
frustratingly misplaced
trust issues, and some great
interfering busybodies in
the supporting cast.
