Care to take a journey beyond my Great Divide into a land where anything is possible?

Before you do, I should tell you a little bit about the Dragonstone Amulet. It's one of the few ways to cross the Great Divide since it has the power to make wishes come true. It's a golden amulet with a dragon etched into the surface, said to be made by Queen Shalla, the Goddess Queen of the dragons thousands of years ago. During the Dark Magic Wars in Veneficium, two sorceresses used the amulet to travel to Earth, so that the powerful trinket could be protected. It was given to a young woman named Melinda Curtis, who in turn passed it down the amulet down to her granddaughter, Deana. Deana unlocked the power of the amulet, and used it to make her fondest wish come true- to travel to the year 1962 and meet her childhood crush, Tristan Wallace. Here's a blurb from my novella, One Enchanted Summer, coming 6/25/08 to the Vintage Rose Line of the Wild Rose Press.

One Enchanted Summer by Marguerite Arotin

Deana Curtis, a young law-school student vacationing in Manchester, England is shocked to find herself transported back to 1962 after she makes a wish on a golden amulet.  There she meets her childhood crush—Tristan Wallace. Armed with the knowledge of Tristan’s bleak future, can she stop the sexy spy/ rock star from mysteriously disappearing?

Tristan wants to believe that the golden-haired pixie is telling the truth, but her story sounds insane. Could she truly be a time traveler who made a wish to help him? As he grows closer to Deana, he not only believes her, but worries that he will be unable protect her from his evil enemy—communist spy, Sascha Pope.

The Great Divide is a massive void between other realms and our world. Like I said, the dragonstone amulet is one way to cross the divide. The other way is to summon a growth, a magical vine that wraps around a being or thing.  Dazzart the Bold, an ogre from the ogre nation of Carnitha, used growths to through this divide on a regular basis and bring heroes to his world to fight the evil sorceress Adieal. You can read an excerpt of the first tale, The Last Sorceress here.  I have a little bit more revising to do on TLS and then it will be sent out to an editor at The Wild Rose Press.

Battle of the Mages is the second book in my Tales from beyond the divide series. My hero of BOTM, Olorin the High Sorcerer ruler of Veneficium, was a royal thorn in my side as I wrote The Last Sorceress because he kept trying to break my sorceress and ogre up. But eventually, I just realized he was lonely and needed his own woman. Catherine, my shy receptionist turned feisty fairy became my ideal heroine for Olorin and I'm working on giving them their happy ending. I hope to have an excerpt and blurb for Battle of the Mages up soon.
